LA Academy Middle School ‘Shooting’ Reports: Los Angeles PD Officers Surround South LA Campus

Authorities responded to reports of a possible school shooting at LA Academy Middle School in South Los Angeles on Thursday, officials confirmed. The school, located near Avalon Boulevard and E. Slauson Avenue in the South Park neighborhood, is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.Officers arrived around 12 PM following reports of shots fired. However, about an hour later, police determined there was no evidence of a shooting, no shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. One person was taken into custody after being accused by another student of possibly having a gun, though no weapon was found. The student remains detained as authorities continue a thorough search of the campus.Investigators confirmed the lockdown remains in place as the campus is being thoroughly searched for any weapons. The identity of the person in custody has not been released, and it is unclear if any charges will be filed.A Los Angeles Unified School District spokesperson released a statement that said:”The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff remain my top priority. I am calling to advise you that our campus remains on lockdown due to a report received from a community member regarding a possible weapon on campus and an alleged shooting.
