Delhi take crucial first-innings lead to draw Ranji Trophy match against Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Delhi completed the primary objective of taking the crucial first-innings lead in 5.4 overs on the final day, conceding 11 runs and taking the last three wickets against Hyderabad in the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group D match, which ended in a draw at the NexGen Cricket Academy Ground near Hakimpet on Saturday.
Resuming at the overnight score of 400 for seven, there was a glimmer of hope with the well-set Rahul Radesh at the crease, joined by the experienced southpaw Chama Milind.
However, Milind, who scored one run off 12 balls, went for a big shot only to end up hitting spinner Arpit Rana straight to long-off in the third over of the day.
Soon, Arpit struck again, forcing Saranu Nishanth to snick to the wicketkeeper in the sixth over. Finally, Rahul Radesh (46, 108b, 4×4) stepped out of the crease against Delhi skipper Ayush Badoni, only to be bowled, allowing the bowler to complete an impressive six-wicket haul.
In the second innings, Delhi openers Sanat Sangwan (56, 105b, 6×4) and Yash Dhull (53, 71b, 7×4) put on 105 runs in 26.6 overs to ensure that there was no way Hyderabad could hope for a dramatic turnaround.
Though three wickets fell later in quick succession, the umpires called off play 30 minutes before tea, with no possibility of a result, as Delhi finished at 138 for three in their second innings.
Delhi picked up three points and Hyderabad one point from this drawn match.
