President Donald Trump boarded Air Force One using the smaller rear stairs on Sunday due to what the White House described as “increased security measures” at Palm Beach International Airport. A White House official told Fox News the change in routine followed the discovery of a suspected hunting stand near the airport, which appeared to have a clear line of sight to Air Force One’s boarding and departure area. Earlier in the day, Fox News had reported the discovery, describing the location as a possible sniper position. Authorities have not announced any arrests. FBI Director Kash Patel said his agency is now leading the investigation into the incident. “Prior to the President’s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone,” Patel told Fox News Digital. “No individuals were located at the scene. Guglielmi said the hunting stand was found during “advance security preparations” before Trump’s arrival. “There was no impact to any movements, and no individuals were present or involved at the location,” he said. “While we are not able to provide details about the specific items or their intent, this incident underscores the importance of our layered security measures,” Guglielmi added. The investigation comes just weeks after Ryan Routh was found guilty of attempting to assassinate Trump from a sniper’s nest on a Palm Beach golf course, where he had hidden among bushes along a fence line. Authorities have not said whether the two incidents are connected, but the discovery has prompted renewed scrutiny of security arrangements surrounding Trump’s movements in Florida.
