India cricket team, led by Shubman Gill, will be playing for pride in the IND vs AUS 3rd ODI as they aim to sign off with a win. The visitors have lost both the games that they have played so far, marking the new captain’s first series defeat in his very first campaign after taking over from Rohit Sharma just before the series. The Men in Blue have been let down by their batting department primarily while their bowling hasn’t been top-notch either. To complicate things further, they left out their best bowler Kuldeep Yadav from both the 1st and 2nd ODI.
What India need to do to win IND vs AUS 3rd ODI?
Firstly, Team India need to get their combination right. While their plan to go with three pacers and all-rounders in the rain-hit tie at Perth backfired, Shubman Gill decided to go with the same line-up in Adelaide, despite having the chance to field Kuldeep Yadav. What happened next was nothing surprising, as Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed least with the bat in the IND vs AUS 2nd ODI while also maintaining an economy rate of 8 in just three overs that he bowled.
If there is one change that the Men in Blue could make to their playing XI, it is the inclusion of Kuldeep in place of either Sundar or Rana. Apart from Gambhir’s obsession for all-rounders, there is simply no need to bench Yadav while focusing on a batting depth that has not worked for the side so far. At a big ground like Adelaide, Kuldeep would have worked wonders but the Indian team management had thought so otherwise.
There are no much changes that India can make in terns of the batting line-up. Rohit Sharma seems to have rediscovered his form with a 73-run knock after being dismissed for just 8 runs in the 1st ODI. Virat Kohli isn’t going to be dropped despite registering two back-to-back ducks in the series.
The addition of an extra spinner in place of an all-rounder or an extra bowler can very well o the trick for India. It could perhaps be the missing piece in the puzzle that Gill needs after all. With nothing to lose, changes in the playing XI is just what India needs to finish on a high note,
