Telangana High Court Demands Police Action in Bhoodan Land Fraud Case, ETRealty

HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Monday directed the state counsel to obtain instructions from the Maheswaram police regarding a communication received from the Enforcement Directorate on alleged irregularities in the transfer of Bhoodan and prohibited lands in Nagaram village in Maheswaram.

The ED, which began probing the alleged land fraud, had informed the police in Feb 2024 that its preliminary inquiry pointed to fabrication of documents, forgery, and manipulation of revenue records, allegedly involving govt officials. The agency had advised the deputy commissioner of police (Maheswaram zone) to initiate further action, petitioner Dastagir Shareef told the court.

Shareef alleged that no action was taken by the police despite the ED’s alert. He said he had submitted a representation on Oct 4, 2025, to both the Maheswaram DCP and the local police inspector, seeking follow-up action, but received no response, prompting him to approach the high court.

When the matter came up for hearing, Justice NV Shravan Kumar asked the state counsel for the govt’s position on the issue. On the counsel’s request, the court granted one week to obtain instructions from the Maheswaram police and adjourned the hearing.
