Young Telugu actor Vikranth is ready to entertain audiences with his upcoming film Santhana Prapthirasthu, co-starring Chandini Chowdary. Directed by Sanjeev Reddy and produced by Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy under Madhura Entertainment and Nirvi Arts, the film is set for a grand theatrical release on November 14.
In a candid chat, Vikranth shared his journey and thoughts about the film. “I’m from Vijayawada and have loved movies since childhood. After studying and working in software, even in the U.S., I realized during COVID that waiting for the ‘right time’ means missing life itself. That’s when I decided to chase my dream of acting,” he said.
Talking about how he landed the film, Vikranth revealed, “When Sridhar Garu sent me the script of Santhana Prapthirasthu, I was initially unsure if audiences would accept such a bold subject. The story deals with male infertility — a hero struggling with low sperm count. But the way it’s written is very tasteful, with no vulgarity. It’s a film that all age groups can watch comfortably. That’s what gave me confidence.”
Vikranth added that post-COVID audiences are open to new ideas. “Viewers today enjoy new genres and fresh storytelling. Routine commercial films won’t help newcomers stand out. Santhana Prapthirasthu is 75% humor and fun, and the remaining part delivers an emotional, heart-touching message. It’s about hope, relationships, and overcoming personal struggles.”
About his role, he said, “I play Chaitanya, a software engineer — a character that many IT employees will relate to. For the part, I gained six kilos to look like a real techie. Infertility has become a growing issue — studies say three out of ten couples face it. Our film handles it with sensitivity. We didn’t mock anyone; instead, we’ve built a meaningful entertainer that leaves people with hope.”
Vikranth praised his co-star Chandini Chowdary, saying, “She’s known for her strong performances and is one of the biggest assets of our movie. We attended workshops together to bring authenticity to our chemistry. After my role, Chandini and Vennela Kishore’s characters are key to the story. Tharun Bhascker, one of my favorite directors, also plays a role — acting with him was a memorable experience.”
He also shared that the movie highlights modern-day issues like stress, delayed parenthood, and changing relationship dynamics. “Today, couples take longer to plan families due to pressure and lifestyle. Our story touches on this reality but keeps the tone entertaining and hopeful.”
Talking about the making, he said, “Director Sanjeev Reddy has been developing this story since 2017. He was very clear and didn’t change a single scene. Music is another highlight. Ajay Arasada composed the background score and the song ‘Telusa Nee Kosame,’ which has received great response. Even OTT platforms have shown strong interest, which is encouraging.”
Vikranth proudly added that the Censor Board granted a U/A certificate, appreciating the film’s sensitive handling of the topic. “We’ve already done some premiere screenings, and the audience feedback has been heartwarming. Many said they haven’t seen such a wholesome family entertainer in recent times,” he smiled.
Ending on a promising note, Vikranth revealed his upcoming projects. “After this, I’ll reunite with Sreedhar Garu and Sanjeev Reddy for a rural drama titled Sarpanch, and I’m also developing a socio-fantasy project called Mrityunjaya Markandeya.”
With its fresh subject, fun-filled narration, and emotional depth, Santhana Prapthirasthu looks set to connect with audiences of all kinds and deliver both entertainment and a strong social message.
