“Ghantasala The Great” Teaser Launched

The teaser of Ghantasala The Great, a biopic based on the legendary singer Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao, was unveiled on Saturday at a special promotional event. The film is produced by Smt. C.H. Phani under the Anyukth Ram Pictures banner, with story, screenplay, and direction by C.H. Rama Rao. Krishna Chaitanya plays the iconic role of Ghantasala, Mridula appears as Savitramma, Atulitha (of Tulasi fame) portrays young Ghantasala, and senior actor Suman plays a key role. The film is set to hit theatres on December 12.
Chief guest Aditya Hasan launched the teaser and shared his emotional connection with the team. He recalled working with Rama Rao early in his career and receiving his first-ever remuneration from him. Calling the script “deeply emotional,” Aditya said this is a film everyone should watch. He expressed strong hope that the movie will achieve great success and urged the audience to support it when it releases on December 12.
Actor Krishna Chaitanya, who plays Ghantasala, said it was a blessing to portray such a legendary figure. He grew up listening to Ghantasala’s songs and felt fortunate to be part of a film that showcases the singer’s inspirational journey. He thanked director Rama Rao for the opportunity and shared that those who watched the preview were deeply moved. He described Ghantasala and S.P. Balasubrahmanyam as “the two eyes of Telugu music” and hoped their blessings would guide the film.
Director Rama Rao expressed happiness that his former student Aditya Hasan came to release the teaser. He said that whenever the word “song” is mentioned, Ghantasala immediately comes to mind. The director revealed that the film aims to show the man behind the voice—his personality, his values, and his incredible journey. After seeing Krishna Chaitanya in Swarabhishekam, he felt he was the right fit for the role. Rama Rao shared that there were attempts to block the film’s release but remained confident that it would arrive in theatres on December 12 as planned.
Ramasatya Narayana Raju praised the courage it takes to make a biopic and said Rama Rao succeeded in recreating Ghantasala’s greatness for today’s generation. He compared the film’s emotional depth to Mahanati and said it would surely touch viewers’ hearts.
Shobha Rani said it was a privilege to speak about Ghantasala, a man known not only for his musical genius but also for his role as a freedom fighter who participated in the Quit India Movement. She appreciated the director for bringing such an inspiring life to the screen and urged the government to support the project. She added that Krishna Chaitanya’s voice closely resembles that of Ghantasala.
Karri Balaji praised both Aditya Hasan and Rama Rao for their hard work and commitment. He said all characters feel natural and true to life, and he believes the film will appeal to audiences everywhere.
Ghantasala The Great features a strong supporting cast including Suman, Mridula, Atulitha, Subbarayu Sharma, J.K. Bharavi, Suman Shetty, Ananth, Sai Kiran, Ashok Kumar, Gundu Sudarshan, Jayavani, and others.
The film’s technical crew includes music by Saluri Vasu Rao, cinematography by Venu Muralidhar, and PRO Sai Satish. With the teaser receiving warm appreciation, the team is hopeful that the biopic will celebrate the legacy of one of India’s greatest musical legends when it releases on December 12.
