Raju Weds Rambai Promises a Real-Life Village Experience, Says Producer Sai Krishna

The upcoming film Raju Weds Rambai, starring Akhil Raj and Tejaswini, is gearing up for its theatrical release on November 21. Backed by ETV Win Originals Production and presented by Dr. Nageshwar Rao Pujari, the film is produced by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi under Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoons Tales. Saailu Kampati directs the project, while Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works are releasing it on a grand scale. Producer Sai Krishna shared his insights about the film and what makes it special.
Sai Krishna said the movie brings a warm, unfolding story straight from rural Telangana. He added that ETV Win is committed to offering clean, family-friendly entertainment—breaking the notion that OTT platforms are mainly for adult content. After earlier projects like 90’s – A Middle Class Biopic, Air, Anaganaga and Little Hearts, the team aimed to continue the tradition of simple, emotional, middle-class stories that feel relatable and honest. When he first heard the script of Raju Weds Rambai, it immediately felt real and rooted.
The film is inspired by a true incident that happened in a village between Warangal and Khammam districts. Producer Sai Krishna mentioned that he had heard about the incident earlier, and director Saailu’s narration convinced the team to take it forward. A demo shoot helped build confidence in the director’s vision. Although the project started a year and a half ago, weather conditions and initial resistance from villagers caused delays. Eventually, the film was shot authentically in the same region with the cooperation of local people.
The team kept the story almost exactly as it happened. Since the real-life incident had a powerful and emotional climax, they shot two versions but ultimately chose the original ending because it felt more honest. Even though the story is tragic, director Saailu shaped the film in a way that stays engaging without feeling too heavy. Some dialogues in the original script were very specific to the local dialect, so they were modified slightly to make the film more relatable for a wider audience.
Sai Krishna praised director Saailu’s sincerity and simplicity, saying these qualities reflect strongly in the film. He felt that watching Raju Weds Rambai gives the impression of sitting inside a village and witnessing everything firsthand. The team gave the director full creative freedom, which helped maintain the film’s natural tone. The project went slightly over budget because most of the shooting took place outdoors and the team largely consisted of newcomers.
He also appreciated the cast. Akhil Raj, who plays Raju, is expected to earn recognition as a promising young hero. Tejaswini delivered a strong performance as Rambai, and Chaitanya Jonnalagadda impressed as Venkanna, Rambai’s father. Sai Krishna said their partnership with Vamsi Nandipati and Bunny Vas has already worked well with Little Hearts, and they hope Raju Weds Rambai repeats that success. Director Venu Udugula also supported the project instantly.
Looking ahead, Sai Krishna revealed that ETV Win will release Kanaka Mahalakshmi 2 in December and is also bringing a new film starring Thiruveer. Their goal is to stream one fresh movie every month and provide continuous entertainment to viewers.
The team believes Raju Weds Rambai will touch hearts with its honesty, emotional depth, and raw village backdrop—making audiences feel like a true story is unfolding right before them.
