2025 has come to an end, and we have stepped into 2026 with new hopes and aspirations. Several films were released at the Indian box office in 2025 and entertained audiences. While some highly anticipated films failed to live up to expectations, a few others arrived without much hype and went on to create havoc at the box office.
Google has unveiled a list of the Top 10 most searched Indian movies of 2025 by netizens. Let’s take a look at which films grabbed the most attention last year.
Saiyaara:
Topping the list is the Bollywood youthful romantic entertainer Saiyaara, produced by Yash Raj Films. The movie stars debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in the lead roles and is directed by Mohit Suri. Globally, Saiyaara collected Rs. 550 crores gross. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda became overnight stars with this love saga.
Kantara: Chapter 1:
Securing the second position is Kantara: Chapter 1, the much-awaited sequel starring Rishab Shetty. Owing to the massive craze surrounding the first part, the movie opened big at the box office. Just like the first installment, the prequel was a PAN-Indian sensation, grossing Rs. 850 crores. Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah played key roles.
Coolie:
Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie bagged the third position. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film also features Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and Aamir Khan in key roles. The movie grossed over Rs. 500 crores, but couldn’t reach expectations completely content-wise.
War 2:
The action entertainer War 2, starring Bollywood Greek God Hrithik Roshan and Man of the Masses NTR, stood at fourth place on the list. The film grossed over Rs. 300 crores, but it was a mega disaster at the box office due to the high costs involved.
Sanam Teri Kasam:
Bollywood romantic drama, Sanam Teri Kasam, secured the fifth position. The film features Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane in the lead roles. Interestingly, Sanam Teri Kasam is the only re-release film in this elite list. The movie, in its initial phase of release, was a big flop, but later it gained a cult following among the audience. The re-issue was a blockbuster success with the movie earning over Rs. 35 crores nett in India.
Marco:
Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan’s action thriller Marco grabbed the sixth spot on the list. Marco is the first Malayalam A-rated film to gross over Rs. 100 crores. The film was marketed as the most violent Mollywood film, and this marketing strategy worked in the movie’s favor.
Housefull 5:
The fifth installment of the popular Bollywood comedy franchise, Housefull 5, also featured in the list, securing the seventh position. The movie stars Akshay Kumar, Abishek Bachchan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Nargis Fakhri in the lead roles. The comedy thriller was an average grosser at the box office, earning over Rs. 240 crores gross.
Game Changer:
Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Game Changer stood at eighth place. Directed by Shankar, the political action drama failed to achieve the expected level of success commercially. Ram Charan was lauded for his performance, and the biggie ended up grossing over Rs. 190 crores in its lifetime.
Mrs:
The Bollywood film Mrs., starring Sanya Malhotra in the lead role, claimed the ninth position. The movie directed by Arati Kadav is the official remake of the Malayalam film The Great Indian Kitchen. Mrs. was a mega success in the digital space, and it became the point of discussion online for the social issues the movie depicts.
Mahavatar Narsimha:
Rounding off the list at tenth place is the devotional animated film Mahavatar Narasimha. The film directed by Ashiwn Kumar was a breakthrough in the Indian animation space, and it went on to collect over Rs. 300 crores. Presented by Hombale Films, Mahavatar Narsimha is the first installment in the planned seven-part animated Mahavatar Cinematic Universe, based on the ten avatars of Lord Vishnu. The post Editorial: Top 10 Most Searched Indian Movies on Google in 2025! first appeared on Latest Telugu cinema news | Movie reviews | OTT Updates, OTT.
