There are Hindi films that want to impress you, and then there are Hindi films that want to sit next to you, elbow you in the ribs, and say, “Samjha kya?” Rahu Ketu, which released in theaters today, clearly belongs to the second category and that’s not a good sign. Our Rahu Ketu review defines that this is not a film chasing elegance, subtlety, or viral coolness. It’s chasing laughter that echoes, jokes that travel from the screen to the last row, and a kind of small-town chaos that feels familiar even when it’s exaggerated. It’s loud, uneven, and often exhausting with limited or no merits. The film clearly does not impress and does not deliver the fun that it promises. The jokes, the dialogues, and everything else are just below par, much like the film’s writing. Entertainers like this can get away with everything but the fun or the entertainment needs to be there and that is exactly where the film struggles. All About Rahu Ketu FilmRating of Rahu Ketu:IMDb Rating: Average Star Rating: 0.5/5Cast:Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Shalini PandeySongs:Yaari Yehi Hai, Kismat ki Chaabi, Dahaad, MadiraMovie Duration:2 hours 13 minutesDate on Screen (in Cinemas):16 January 2026 Release Year:16 January 2026Streaming on OTT/Movie Channel/YouTube:N/A Trailers/Clips:06 January 2026Director:Vipul VigDialogues Writer:Tasha BhambraScreenplay:Vipul VigMusic Director:Vikram Montrose, Mattoo BrosGenre:ComedyVisual/VFX Supervisor:N/AHow Much is Rahu Ketu Rating?Inside Box Office Rahu Ketu Rating: 0.5/5Rahu Ketu Budget: Rs 45 croreTotal box office: Currently in cinemasIBO Verdict: Currently in Cinemas

The Story, Lead Actor, and Supporting RoleSet in the scenic but morally cluttered town of Kullu, the film follows Rahu (Varun Sharma) and Ketu (Pulkit Samrat), two local men whose reputation precedes them. They’re not criminals in the traditional sense, but they’re also not the kind of people you’d trust with responsibility. Their lives run on impulse, jugaad, and an unshakeable belief that things will somehow work out. Naturally, they don’t.When the duo accidentally finds itself entangled in the town’s growing corruption, the film takes a familiar turn: two unlikely heroes forced into doing the right thing, mostly by mistake. Enter Meenu (Shalini Pandey), who brings not just emotional grounding but also a sense of moral direction to a story that’s otherwise powered by impulse and noise. The plot doesn’t make sense at all. And that’s because of the confusion. Right from the opening scene to the first half, one can’t grasp whether the things shown are just thoughts or are a story in a book or the reality. The second half clears this confusion but the entertainment does not say hello. The Cast: As Disappointing as Rahu KetuIn this Varun Sharma new movie, Varun Sharma plays Rahu, a man who thinks faster than he should. His performance is deliberately over-the-top, but it’s also aware of itself. He understands that in this genre, excess is the language. His facial expressions do half the work, and while some jokes stretch a bit too long, you can tell he’s deeply comfortable inhabiting this kind of comic chaos. But again, it looks like he’s reprising his Fukrey role. There are moments where the performance flirts with caricature but as expected after watching the Rahu Ketu trailer, Varun is good at keeping his characters oddly human, even when they’re ridiculous. As of Pulkit Samrat’s new film acting performance, he is the calmer half of the equation. Where Varun explodes, Pulkit reacts. He’s just about ordinary but what can an actor offer when the script itself is weak.Together, the two main leads function less like two individual performances and more like one extended comic rhythm. You don’t watch them separately; you watch the space between them and there’s no novelty, especially post-Fukrey, one of the few Pulkit Sharma popular movies. As for the female lead of the Rahu Ketu film cast, Shalini Pandey as Meenu is the one who sees beyond jokes and chaos. The screenplay has tried portraying her character as a no-nonsense one but she fails miserably. But again, if the script is silly, what could the poor actress do.The Supporting Cast: Familiar Faces That Do Not Disappoint in Disappointing Rahu Ketu (2026 film) is generously populated with experienced actors who know exactly what kind of movie they’re in and, hence, let their experience be at their side. Piyush Mishra adds texture and lived-in irony. Even when his scenes are brief, his character will irritate you with constant hamming and poorly written dialogues. Amit Sial, often excellent at playing authority figures, brings control and quiet menace, which contrasts nicely with the leads’ chaos. Everyone is so bad that he looks decent, or rather good.Manu Rishi Chadha and Chunky Panday are used sparingly but effectively, adding flavor without overwhelming the narrative. Writing & Screenplay: A Textbook on How Not to Make a Film by Vipul VigThe screenplay follows a simple philosophy: keep moving, keep talking, keep joking. At its best, the humor feels rooted in small-town behaviour-bureaucratic absurdities, social hypocrisy, and the casual normalization of corruption, as expected from the Rahu Ketu teaser. At its weakest, the film confuses repetition with escalation. Some jokes overstay their welcome, not because they’re bad, but because the film doesn’t always know when to stop. In simple words, it is a gone case.In fact, the film is so poorly written that characters go missing without any logic and the deaths of important characters fail to create any impact. Even lovers aim to turn into brothers and sisters in the film. Overall, on the release date of Rahu Ketu, you do not buy the film’s ticket but actually a textbook of how not to make films.  Director of Rahu Ketu, Vipul Vig, treats the film like a live performance. Scenes are staged for reaction rather than realism. The social message is there, but everything is too artificial and forced. This is a film that believes comedy can carry commentary, as long as the audience is laughing first and unfortunately, in this case, the audience does not. What worsens it is the presence of only one couple on the Rahu Ketu release date who was anyway not there for the film, other than a member of Team IBO during the show.Technical Aspects: Extremely Ordinary The Rahu Ketu budget spent on the technical aspects has resulted in decent cinematography and basic editing, while music and background score work overtime to maintain energy, often guiding audience reactions more than the visuals do. The ‘Paapi’ BGM is a show-stealer only because the show is too poor. Everything is designed for mass readability and the masses do not get it.Box Office Outlook: A Guaranteed FailureRahu Ketu enters theaters as a mid-scale comedy with recognizable faces and a familiar flavor. Early expectations point to a modest opening, likely driven by urban multiplexes and weekend footfall, certainly not benefiting in any way from the disastrous Rahu Ketu release rate.If audiences connect with the humor, the film could see steady growth through word of mouth. If not, it may struggle beyond the opening weekend. Like most comedies, its fate rests less on reviews and more on “maza aaya ya nahi” conversations. And in this case, an IBO rating of 0.5/5 ensures that the film would not make much money at the box office because it is not star-driven and the content is so bad that it won’t get a considerable Rahu Ketu OTT audience too.Final Verdict: Rahu Ketu is Not A WinnerRahu Ketu is not a polished comedy and is a fresh attempt but the efforts are just not there. It’s messy, loud, tiring, and fails to entertain you even for a minute. A confirmed box office failure.
