Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is witnessing phenomenal sales at the box office. As of March 10 (11 PM), the Ranveer Singh starrer spy action drama sold around 2 lakh tickets in the top two national chains, PVRInox and Cinepolis, for the premieres only. The former chain is recording a significant chunk of the total sales. Besides national chains, the movie is also performing well in other multiplexes. The overall advance sales of Dhurandhar 2 are somewhere close to the 3 lakh mark.
The way it is performing in its pre-sales for the paid previews is very commendable. Though the sales slowed down on Sunday due to the India vs New Zealand cricket match, it bounced back on Monday and then remained steady on Tuesday. That said, the movie has already recorded the biggest preview advances for a Bollywood movie, surpassing Stree 2’s Rs. 8.75 crore nett. With 8 days still to go for the previews, Dhurandhar 2 has the potential to smash over Rs. 20 crore of advances.
As the advance booking for the rest of the days is expected to open tomorrow, the pace might slow down a bit; however, it will see a surge again as it approaches its release. Based on the current trends, the Aditya Dhar directorial is heading to set a new preview record, in the vicinity of Rs. 25 crore to Rs. 30 crore nett in India. It even has the possibility to go closer to the Rs. 40 crore nett mark, depending on how well it performs in the night shows. The opening day figure, including previews, is expected to be around Rs. 85 crore to Rs. 100 crore.
One must note that Dhurandhar 2 is releasing with Super Blockbuster Plus Rate, which means the ticket prices are 10-15% higher than the standard rates. It will be interesting to see whether such expensive prices will be limited to previews only or will continue for the whole weekend.
