The popular spy-action film Dhurandhar is making a rare return to cinemas worldwide ahead of the release of its sequel Dhurandhar The Revenge, giving fans a chance to relive the blockbuster on the big screen once again. The re-release comes just days before the sequel’s highly anticipated global premiere on March 19.
The film, presented by Jio Studios and produced by B62 Studios, is returning to theatres across nearly 500 screens worldwide. Around 250 screens across India began screening the film from March 12, while approximately 250 international screens will start showing it from March 13.
The re-release offers fans of the franchise a unique opportunity to revisit the first chapter of the story before watching the sequel in theatres. Industry experts believe this strategy will help audiences experience the story back-to-back on the big screen, enhancing excitement for the next installment.
Although film re-releases have occasionally happened in India, international re-releases of Hindi films are relatively rare. This makes the global re-release of Dhurandhar a notable move for the franchise and a reflection of its strong worldwide popularity. In North America alone, the film is returning to nearly 185 theatres, highlighting the growing demand for the sequel among international audiences.
The excitement surrounding the sequel has already begun to build after the release of the official trailer for Dhurandhar The Revenge. The film is expected to attract strong global interest, with trade analysts and theatre chains predicting a major international run.
Adding to the momentum, the sequel will also have special Wednesday premiere shows in the United States and Canada on March 18, one day before the official worldwide release. These special screenings will largely be held on Premium Large Format (PLF) screens that feature wall-to-wall displays, advanced projection systems, immersive sound technologies like Dolby Atmos, and luxury seating arrangements. Such formats are usually reserved for large-scale Hollywood releases, reflecting the scale at which the sequel is being launched.
Reports indicate that several of the early premiere shows are already sold out, further highlighting the strong demand for the film among global audiences.
Dhurandhar The Revenge is written, directed, and produced by Aditya Dhar, with production by Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar. The high-octane spy thriller will be released worldwide on March 19, 2026, in five languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
The film’s release coincides with festive celebrations such as Ugadi and Gudi Padwa, as well as the period leading up to Eid al-Fitr, positioning it for a strong global opening.
With the original film returning to cinemas and the sequel arriving within days, the stage is set for audiences around the world to experience the complete Dhurandhar saga on the big screen once again.
