Hyderabad witnessed a meaningful blend of glamour and social purpose as actor and philanthropist Lakshmi Manchu hosted the annual fundraising event of Teach For Change 2026 at HICC Convention Centre on March 27. Presented by Premier Energies, the event brought together leaders from government, corporate, education and film industries to support one powerful cause — quality education for children studying in government schools.
The event highlighted the urgent need to strengthen public school education and improve learning outcomes for children from underserved communities. The evening was attended by key dignitaries from the Telangana government, including Irrigation and CAD Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Minister for Women and Child Welfare Seethakka, and Principal IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan. Their presence added significance to the event and reinforced the growing importance of collaborative efforts in education and child development.
One of the biggest highlights of the evening was a special celebrity ramp walk, where several well-known personalities from the Indian film industry came together in support of children’s education. The fashion showcase featured exclusive collections designed by Ramz, along with Sakhi Heritage outfits and Rose Jewellery pieces, creating a striking mix of style, culture and social impact.

Teach For Change, founded by Lakshmi Manchu in 2014, has been working to improve the quality of education in government schools by creating better learning environments for children. The organisation focuses on smart classrooms, ICT-based learning, teacher training, volunteer-led initiatives and foundational literacy and numeracy programmes. Over the years, it has built a strong presence by working closely with schools and local communities.
The impact of the organisation has been significant. So far, Teach For Change has supported more than 1,549 government schools and positively influenced the learning journeys of over 3 lakh students across India. The organisation is actively partnering with the governments of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to take educational support deeper into the public school system.
Speaking at the event, Lakshmi Manchu said Teach For Change was started with the belief that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of background or financial condition. She said government schools remain the main support system for children from economically weaker sections, and strengthening them can create long-term social transformation. She added that the annual fundraiser is not just an event, but a collective movement involving donors, volunteers and partners who are helping shape brighter futures for lakhs of children.
Rubin Cherian, General Manager of Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre and HICC, said it was an honour to once again partner with Teach For Change for such a meaningful initiative. He noted that supporting children’s education is one of the most valuable contributions any institution can make to society and appreciated Lakshmi Manchu and her team for their continued commitment.
Premier Energies supported the initiative as the title sponsor, while Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre joined as the co-host venue partner. Event Global handled event production and decor, helping create an evening that balanced elegance with purpose.
With increasing attention on education reform and inclusive development, Teach For Change 2026 stood out as more than a fundraising gala. It served as a reminder that real progress begins in classrooms, and that investing in government school children is one of the strongest ways to build a better future for the country.
The organisation has invited individuals, companies and volunteers who want to contribute towards the development of government schools to join the movement through its official platform, www.teachforchange.in.
