The actress continued, “What you mean, Math ulta hogaya aapka. Humare paas paisa nahin hain phir bhi kar rahe hai. Toh aap kyu nahi kar sakte. (Your math is upside down. We don’t have money, yet we’re still doing it. So why can’t you?) There comes the answer, you are not brave because you’re greedy. You’ve fallen prey to capitalistic structures. You want more money and you would close your eyes to everyone else’s problems, by making problematic films. Your conscience to live with.”
Parvathy added, “I personally feel that we have to look at some things like the educational process. The moment I feel a lot about it, I am done. I would say it is amazing when we see a huge audience for such films. It is a mirror to our society which we have closed our eyes towards. Why are we shocked when there is an audience to problematic films, it is in our culture. While we say our Indian culture is ‘Mahaan’, we have to also accept that this is part of it too.”
The actress further said, “In our culture, multiple things can be true at the same time. I think it is a moment of reflection and a moment where as audience we can ask for better and audience can be better. They can call out and say, ‘Now, I think you are feeding us sh*t. Please don’t.’ The only power in their hands is to not watch such movies because I cannot hold their hands and make them do it.”
In conclusion, the Charlie actress mentioned how even if one makes a problematic movie and earns a huge sum of money, they should also create something meaningful with those profits.
