“Kara Is a Solid Family Drama with Strong Emotional and Thrilling Elements”: CH Satish Kumar

As Kara gears up for its Telugu release on April 30, distributor and presenter CH Satish Kumar is confident the film will strike a chord with audiences. The film, starring Dhanush and directed by Vignesh Raja, is being brought to Telugu audiences by Satish Kumar under the banner Vigneswara Entertainments.
In an interaction, Satish Kumar shared that he comes from Visakhapatnam and built his career gradually in film distribution. Having handled successful films like Kabali, Singham 3, Arjun Reddy, and Khakee in key territories, he has now expanded his presence with strong content-driven acquisitions. He also distributed Dharmayogi (Telugu version of Kodi), which performed well.
Clarifying his role, Satish Kumar said he acquired the Telugu rights and is presenting and distributing the film in the Telugu market. “Today, content is driving the market. Along with Dhanush sir’s reach, it was the strength of the story that convinced me to back Kara,” he explained.
He acknowledged that dubbed films carry certain risks but emphasized that proper release planning is key. “Some films fail to reach audiences despite good content. I made sure that doesn’t happen with Kara,” he said.
Satish revealed that he persistently pursued the project. “For strong content films, competition is always there. I stayed consistent, and that built confidence with the producer,” he noted. He also confirmed that nearly 80% of the film’s business has already been recovered ahead of release.
Speaking about the film, Satish said, “This is not just a thriller. It’s about a man facing difficult situations and overcoming them. The bank robbery shown in the trailer is only a part of the story. The film has strong family emotions, survival elements, and intense drama that will connect with every audience.”
Set against the backdrop of the 1991 Gulf War and a fuel crisis, the film uses real-world context to enhance relatability, though it is not the central plot. The music by G. V. Prakash Kumar has already gained attention, especially the Telugu version of “Kannamma,” written by Ramajogayya Sastry.
The Telugu release is being handled territory-wise, with Dil Raju overseeing Nizam distribution, while other regions are allocated to experienced distributors. The film is expected to release in over 400 theatres initially, with scope to expand further.
Satish also credited director Vignesh Raja’s previous film Por Thozhil for giving him confidence in the project. He added that Dhanush is very confident about the film’s success and believes it will perform strongly.
