Actress Sobhita Dhulipala is reportedly on board as the female lead for director Pa. Ranjith’s ambitious upcoming film, ‘Vettuvam’.
This casting follows her acclaimed performances in films like ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and the series ‘Made in Heaven’.
Director Pa. Ranjith, known for blending social commentary with commercial cinema, initially conceived Vettuvam as a rural gangster drama set in Madurai.
However, the film has evolved into a narrative about power sharing with science fiction and futuristic elements. The core story is said to follow a rural gangster who becomes a modern-day Robin Hood for the oppressed.
The stellar cast includes Arya and Attakathi Dinesh, with the film reportedly featuring Arya as the antagonist and Dinesh as the protagonist.
Other notable actors like Kalaiyarasan and Lingesh are also part of the ensemble. The first-look poster for Vettuvam was launched at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, underscoring the project’s grand scope.
