The mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has hailed Sanju Samson and credited for his growth after India’s triumph at the Asia Cup 2025.
India claimed their 9th title after securing a 5-wicket win against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 finals. With several stars giving their best during the finals, the spin wizard Varun Chakravarthy went on to pick 2 crucial wickets and made an invaluable contribution in the team’s victory.
While giving an exclusive interview at the field, Varun Chakravarthy hailed the batting lineup in the finals.
Speaking of the game, Varun said, “Initial powerplay for us in batting didn’t go well, and definitely they did put us under some pressure. They bowled well, and they came up with a plan of bowling slower ones.
But the way Tilak and Sanju, they took off from there and Dube carrying on and the way Rinku Singh came and finished it – it was amazing,” said Chakravarthy.
“One Thing i Knew was, the Bowler who was Bowling, he can’t keep on bowling slower ones and he is going to give pace because we have seen a lot of his games and Haris keeps bowling fast. If the one ball he gives pace, I knew that someone’s going to hit it.”
He also revealed where Suryakumar Yadav and head coach Gautam Gambhir for backing him in crucial conditions.
“Very Glad to be doing this role for Team India and definitely when Gatuam Gambhir and Surya told me that i’ll be doing the tougher role as in bowling in the Powerplay and Death overs.”
Meantime, Sanju Samson jumped on Chakravarthy where the latter credited the wk-batter for his growth.
“This Guy has been a pillar of Support for me, Which Samson continued saying, – “Yes, a very big pillar from the neighbourhood.”
Varun added, “From Sanju Mohanlal Samson,” with the duo laughing with happiness.
The duo had a little chat at the camera. “Sometimes you have to be a villian or a joker. What do you think you are today?” asked Chakarvarthy.
To which Samson replied, “I was a stable guy, today. I have to absorb all the pressure and I had to just be there, watch the ball and play my game and use all my experience.
I think i have been around for a few years now, so that i know i wanted some proper partnership with Tilak – good left-right combination.”
I thinky they were looking for wickets, so I thought I’ll just play my shots just looking at the ball and that really helped,” said Samson.
“Yes Chetta, your innings has been defining today and Tilak Varma also played well and Macha what else can we except from you now?” asked Varun Chakravarthy to which Samson replied “Smash it and we’ll lift it.”
