Kyrgyzstan Earthquake: 5.5-Magnitude Tremor Felt Across Region

An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter scale struck the Kyrgyzstan region in the early hours of Monday, officials said. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) initially measured the quake at 5.7, but it was later revised to 5.5.The earthquake occurred at around 1.28 am local time at a shallow depth of seven kilometres. Its epicentre was located 77 kilometres south-southeast of Taraz, Kazakhstan.Despite the intensity of the tremor, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage to buildings.
