Hollywood Burbank Airport remains officially open, but an acute shortage of air traffic controllers has thrown operations into disarray and triggered heavy delays. As of 4:15 PM Monday, the airport’s control tower was unmanned, due to sick calls and last-minute absences, and control responsibilities were handed over to Southern California TRACON (SCT).
