It will be the battle of world champions as T20 champs India take on ODI champs Australia in a three-match ODI series and five-game T20I series beginning from October 19. The series will be a special one for all cricket fans as Indian legends Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be making their much-awaited international comeback in the three-game ODI series with the first game at the Optus Stadium in Perth.
Indians will be up against the 2023 ODI World Cup winners Australia, who will be without their regular skipper Pat Cummins as he is recovering from injury. But Rohit and Kohli’s return and possibly their final tour of down under will make the ODI series a memorable one.
It will be the first time that Indian side will be playing an ODI match after winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title in March this year. However, they will be led by new captain – Shubman Gill replacing Rohit Sharma while Shreyas Iyer has been named as his deputy.
The Australians, on the other hand, will be led by all-rounder Mitchell March in the absence of Cummins in the ODI and T20I series. In Rishabh Pant’s absence, KL Rahul will continue the wicketkeeping duties in the ODI series while Sanju Samson will take up the gloves in the T20 format.
Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the T20I side after winning the Asia Cup 2025 title last month with majority of the same squad retained. The only major change in Indian line-up is all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy replacing injured Hardik Pandya in both ODI and T20I squads.
