Gene Simmons Car Crash: KISS Rocker Hospitalized After Malibu Accident

KISS legend Gene Simmons is recovering at home after being hospitalized following a car crash in Malibu on Tuesday afternoon, October 7. The 76-year-old bassist and vocalist reportedly passed out behind the wheel of his Lincoln Navigator, causing it to veer across multiple lanes of traffic before crashing into a parked car on Pacific Coast Highway.The accident occurred just before 1 PM in the 25000 block of PCH, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies and firefighters responded after a witness called 911. Simmons was conscious and speaking with first responders at the scene and told them he may have fainted prior to the crash.He was transported to a hospital for evaluation. His wife, Shannon Tweed, 68, later confirmed to NBC4 Los Angeles that Simmons is now resting at home. She attributed the incident to a recent change in his medication and noted that he needs to stay better hydrated — something he’s reportedly not fond of.In a voicemail to NBC4 Investigates, Simmons reassured fans, saying he is “doing fine.”The crash comes just weeks before KISS is set to reunite for the “KISS Army Storms Vegas” celebration, taking place November 14–16 in Las Vegas. The event will mark the band’s return to the stage after retiring from touring in 2023 and will feature appearances by Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer, and other special guests — including former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.The Vegas celebration will also include Q&A sessions, tribute band performances, KISS karaoke, trivia contests, and fan meet-and-greets, honoring the band’s 50-year legacy.
