Hyderabad: In a continuing effort to reclaim public open spaces, the HYDRAA on Saturday protected over 3,700 square yards of park land from encroachment in Bandlaguda Jagir municipality of Rangareddy district.
HYDRA saves Padmashree Hills Park Land
HYDRAA officials reclaimed 2,600 square yards of land in Padmashree Hills Colony, which had been earmarked for a park in a layout approved in 1983. The 10-acre layout comprises 230 residential plots, with a specific portion designated as a park site.

Recently, the Bandlaguda Jagir Municipal authorities initiated construction of a compound wall to develop the park. However, individuals claiming ownership over the plot stalled the work.
Acting on complaints from residents, HYDRAA inspected the site along with revenue and municipal officials and confirmed that the land was officially reserved for a park.
Subsequently, HYDRAA fenced the land and installed display boards, securing it for public use.
Encroachment cleared in P&T Colony
In a separate action, HYDRAA removed encroachments on 1,112 square yards of park land in P&T Colony’s D Block, adjacent to Padmashree Hills.
The site had been under unauthorized occupation for several years. The authority fenced the reclaimed land and marked it as a protected open space.

Earlier reclamation efforts
HYDRAA had earlier reclaimed around 4,400 square yards of park land in P&T Colony’s B and C Blocks, which had also faced encroachment threats. Saturday’s operation adds to its ongoing series of measures aimed at preserving open spaces in urban layouts.
Green zones regain protection
With the latest drive, HYDRAA has secured a total of 3,712 square yards of park area in Bandlaguda Jagir, reaffirming its commitment to safeguard green zones and restore them for community recreation and environmental balance.
Officials said that similar operations would continue across the city to prevent public utility lands from falling into private hands.
