Player of the Match
Nat Sciver-Brunt | England
We started off really well. Amy and Tammy showed good intent in the powerplay. At the start it looked easy to score. Then spin came on after the powerplay had finished and there was inconsistency in terms of spin and bounce and how it reacted off the wicket.
Along the way we adapted as best we could. For me, batting through, it allows other people to come in and play in different ways. Felt like I could never really accelerate properly. Picking length is really important and knowing your strengths.
So if your strength is playing off the front foot then recognising that and doing it as much as you can. It’s about not letting spinners settle either – using the lap sweep and things like that, it’s great to have in your armoury to maneuvre the field a bit more.
Putting the pressure back on the bowler in different ways. She’s brilliant, isn’t she (talking about Ecclestone)? To be able to hand the ball to her and her bowling 10 straight overs. Not going for many runs and to pick up four wickets. Pretty special.
From the time she was 16 and came into the team, we knew we had something special on our hands. She’s probably really grown in the last couple of months as well. We challenged her to improve herself and make a mark on this team and for herself as well.
In patches, probably haven’t put it all together I’d say. Would like to have some bigger partnerships in our batting innings to make it feel a little bit more comfortable.
