What is The Raja Saab Plot?RajaSaab (Prabhas) lives a peaceful life with his grandmother Gangamma (Zarina Wahab), who is an Alzheimer’s patient. She does not remember anything besides her husband, Kanakaraju (Sanjay Dutt), who was an exorcist believed to have gone into exile. RajaSaab sets out to find his grandfather, Kanakaraju, and on the way, he falls in love with Bessy (Nidhhi Agerwal), a nun, while another woman named Bhairavi (Malavika Mohanan) decides to assist them too. The three then reach a haunted mansion, where they find out the reality of Kanakaraju and that he deliberately disappeared and made a long-term trap to lure RajaSaab for his evil plans.RajaSaab, Bessy, and Bhairavi try hard to leave the mansion but fail. How the three eventually escape forms the rest of the film.Interesting, Only for the StartAs the film starts, it does not give you anything new but offers a regular introduction to the characters and the world of The Raja Saab. With The Raja Saab show time going on, the story and the BGM make the film feel interesting. Till the time RajaSaab goes on the journey to find his father, the movie feels a little exciting with constant expectations of some good twists and turns. However, the film takes a typical Telugu entertainer route and gives him two actresses to walk around with instead.While the first half degrades in its entertainment quotient with time, it picks up a bit during the pre-interval point, where huge revelations about Sanjay Dutt’s character are made. Simply Horrible Second HalfBesides a few funny chunks, the second half has nothing interesting to offer you and is only a test of how much you can tolerate before leaving the film. The action sequences are outdated and in no way exciting. Even though there is a lot to expect from this half, The Raja Saab delivers nothing and surprisingly, even Prabhas feels unbearable on the screen. The one thing that had excited the audience, Prabhas’ look as a literal Raja Saab, has been completely removed from the film, as seen on The Raja Saab release date and time for reasons the makers are keeping to themselves.All of the sequences shown feel good and potentially exciting on paper, but the efforts seem to have been exhausted on the paper, with nothing executed appropriately. This ends up being a clear failure of Maruthi, who has no experience helming such a big film. As the film ends, you realize that your 2026 should certainly not start this way.Funny But Not So FunnyIn the first trailer of The Raja Saab, the comedy clearly did not land at any moment. However, things are better in the film, as at least a few comic punches land. They are divided equally in the first and the second half, while most of the wannabe comical moments go on without the audience realizing they were supposed to laugh. These funny moments arise only due to good enough Hindi dubbing, without which one would have to sit on their seat with a bland face, doing nothing but hoping for some fun. The brains of the writers give the film meta jokes revolving around his Jesus-like appearance in Adipurush, as well as some bits around Deepika Padukone that land.Has Prabhas Really Acted in the Film?Prabhas‘ screen presence is something that one can never doubt. With mass treatment in action scenes, he knows how to have the audience set their eyeballs on him. However, it would have been better if he had made some efforts to act in the movie himself instead of using his body double.The same goes for the makers for not hiding the use of a body double, which is clearly evident due to the undercooked CGI, which makes RajaSaab’s face clearly feel separate from the rest of the body.We Are Not Scared!Besides this horror comedy being unfunny, it also lacks the required thrills to be actually considered a horror film. Sanjay Dutt has been saturated in such antagonist roles and no longer feels dangerous, no matter what powers he uses. The creatures arising from Kanakaraju’s magic in the mansion had huge potential to make the film a memorable fantasy, but they are reduced to just being cartoons due to the undercooked CGI.Competition of the Worst PerformancesThere is no telling whose performance out of the complete The Raja Saab cast is the best or the worst because all of them have tried their best not to show a penny’s worth of expressions. Yet, it can be deciphered that the three leading actresses – Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar – are the worst performers of the movie. In a way, they can be considered the unpaid interns of this film.As for the others, Prabhas is ordinary, good in some comedy and emotional scenes, and enhanced by Sharad Kelkar’s dub. Sanjay Dutt and Zarina Wahab have performed decently, while Boman Irani has shown a great performance. Meanwhile, the supporting cast at many places entertains you more than the leads.The Good Thing About The Raja SaabWhat is good about The Raja Saab is that it has highlighted the versatility and acting potential of Prabhas, even though it is in bits. The potential that Maruthi has brought out of him in those scenes will be executed appropriately by Sandeep Reddy Vanga in Spirit.Technically WeakThe CGI of The Raja Saab disappoints and makes the whole film unbearable. In case it was good enough, the film would have become a much better experience. With poor visual effects and cinematography, The Raja Saab is still an experience, but one that you wish to forget like a bad dream.The Raja Saab Songs: A Big LetdownThe songs of The Raja Saab are a big letdown, along with the BGM that proves to be an even bigger disappointment. Only Sahana Sahana is a good song, which is placed abruptly in the film, making no sense at all, just like all the other music videos.Final ThoughtsAs for the overall Raja Saab review, this Prabhas starrer has turned out to be something that excites you the moment it is announced and keeps on disappointing with more and more assets coming in, with the film finally sending your expectations on a negative graph. The film had the potential to be made into a much better entertainer with the help of a good editor. However, it has now ended up being a missed opportunity, which hurts more than it being a bad film.Prabhas has seen a few such films in his career, with Adipurush being the most relevant example and The Raja Saab being another one in its category.
