Asrani, born Govardhan Asrani, died in Mumbai at around 4 pm on October 20 after a prolonged illness. The actor’s last rites were also performed in the city at the Santacruz crematorium. The veteran’s death was confirmed by his nephew Anand Asrani. Hours after his untimely demise, actor Akshay Kumar penned a heartfelt tribute for the him and expressed how he is ‘speechless’ to hear the news. The veteran actor had worked in over 350 films in his career and even worked as a lead actor in Gujarati films during the 1970s and 1980s.
