Story:
Telugu Superstar Suryakumar (Upendra), known as the “Andhra King,” has a die-hard fan named Sagar (Ram Pothineni). Sagar gets inspired by Surya’s films at every stage of his life, right from childhood.
After growing up, Sagar falls in love with Mahalakshmi (Bhagyashri Borse), the daughter of a theatre owner. However, Mahalakshmi’s father (Murali Sharma) looks down on Sagar and mocks his crazy fan devotion.
Sagar then challenges Mahalakshmi’s father about building a much bigger theatre than his, and wants to win the love of his life. How is his love story connected to Surya? Did Sagar’s love story succeed? Needs to be seen in the theatres.
What about on-screen performances?
Ram Pothineni is back to his strong zone of love stories, where he is seen in a boy-next-door kind of character. And as expected, he carries the movie with a strong performance. He is terrific as Sagar and is so natural as a die-hard fan of a superstar. Truly one of the best performances in his career till date.
Bhagyashri Borse delivers a subtle yet effective performance as Mahalakshmi. She gets some of the best scenes of the film, and she leaves a big impact with her expressions and acting. Also, her chemistry with Ram works well, making the love story more memorable.
Upendra gives a dignified and impactful performance as superstar Surya. Though his role could have been written in a much better manner.
Murali Sharma as the heroine’s father, Rao Ramesh as the hero’s father and Rahul Ramakrishna as the hero’s best friend give solid performances in their respective roles. All three of them get a couple of key scenes where they shine with their acting.
Satya also leaves a mark with his comedy timing in a small yet funny role.
Tulasi, VTV Ganesh, Sindhu Tolani, Rajeev Kanakala, Harshavardhan, Kalyan Vitappu, Siva Reddy, Sonia & all others are good in their supporting roles.
What about off-screen talents?
The story by Mahesh Babu P is unique with a novel point involving a film superstar and his fan. The way this plot is connected with the love story, the drama and the main conflict around these two plots is very well thought off.
The screenplay is well-written. Though the film runs at a slow pace, the writing keeps us engaged in most parts with relatable scenes and a feel-good factor. The emotional beats in both plots are handled neatly, and the ending will surely inspire all the respective hero fans to move in the right direction.
Director Mahesh Babu P does an extraordinary job with his presentation. The way he sets up the whole story, the characters & the drama is appreciable, and the way he connected the hero’s fan track with the love story deserves special mention. Except for the slow-paced narrative and having a more tighter run time, Mahesh gives out another heartfelt drama once again after “Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty”.
The dialogues stand out as the film’s biggest strength. Especially the lines in the climax and the line that connects both the fan and the superstar are superbly written.
The songs and background score by Vivek & Mervin are another big plus point of the film. Nuvvunte Chaley & Chinni Gundelo Songs are already chartbuster melodies, while the First Day First Show track and the Chalu Idi Chalu track perfectly suit the mood of the film. The score too is impressive, and these young musicians are someone to look out for in the future.
The cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and the additional camera work by George C Williams is top-notch.
The edit by Sreekar Prasad is good in most parts, but it required a small trim in the middle portions of both halves.
The production design by Avinash Kolla and the artwork by Amalapuram Srinu are impressive, and the costumes by Deepali Noor, Ashwin Mawle & Hassan Khan are colourful and add value to the overall film.
Special mention to the dance choreographers and the lyric writers for their neat work in all the songs.
The production values by Mythri Movie Makers are first-rate.
