What is the De De Pyaar De 2 Plot about?After the 52-year-old divorced man Ashish Mehra (Ajay Devgn) has convinced his family to let him marry the 28-year-old Ayesha Khurana (Rakul Preet Singh) in De De Pyaar De, the couple now seeks approval from Ayesha’s family as well. It is learned that Ashish is even older than Ayesha’s father, Rajji (R. Madhavan), a fact that Ayesha refuses to expose to her father.While Ayesha’s parents try to accept Ashish, they refuse to do so when they learn the truth about his age. After this reveal, Ayesha’s parents bring Adi (Meezaan Jafri) into the game, whose only goal is to prove to Ayesha that he is a better man for her than Ashish.What works in De De Pyaar De 2?The one thing about De De Pyaar De 2 that needs to be appreciated is that the film doesn’t use the name of its prequel forcefully to find a bigger audience but actually takes the story forward. However, one can consider this a rare factor of this rom-com worthy of appreciation, as the rest of the movie clearly doesn’t do justice to the first part.Among the performances, De De Pyaar De 2 has turned out to be a fine example of actors doing their best to carry a movie, who, in this case, are Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan. As for the story and direction, they feel good only during a few father-daughter emotional or dramatic portions that feature Rakul Preet Singh and R. Madhavan in the center. These portions are made good only with the inclusion of Chale Aana as the BGM. Other than these, the film is colorful and vibrant, just like every Luv Ranjan production.What does not work in the De De Pyaar De 2 Film?Rakul Preet new movie De De Pyaar De 2 film starts as poor yet watchable but later moves on to just being unbearably poor. One thing it has done that could be called an experiment or a mistake is sidelining the male lead of the prequel, Ajay Devgn, in the sequel. The movie revolves around Rakul Preet Singh and R. Madhavan, with very little importance, and hence the short screen time given to Ajay Devgn. Additionally, everyone is unnecessarily loud in the movie.However, walking on such a path fails for the movie due to the two leading characters, portrayed by Rakul and Madhavan, having been poorly written in an illogical story. The opinions of both highlight this poor writing. While the views of Ayesha’s parents feel right in their place, the opinions of Ayesha herself juggle between genuine and stupid ones, which confuses the audience.Additionally, Ajay Devgn has no role to play between the two sides. Even the necessary romantic scenes between Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh fail to find a place in the story.The one trope of the parents trying to set up a fake relationship between Ayesha and Adi, travelling to London multiple times without any stress for the expenses and consequences their plan will lead to when exposed, makes the film very unconvincing and illogical. While this part was hinted at in the De De Pyaar De 2 trailer and was hoped to evoke comedy, it has fallen flat in the film’s overall narrative.Now that we have come to the comedy, we must step away from it quickly, too, as there is nothing funny in the movie. Using the age-gap-visibility moments to evoke some gags is something inspired by part 1 of the movie. However, nowhere else besides a few parts does the movie ever feel funny.As for Meezaan Jafri’s character Adi, he has no purpose in the movie. His entry as well as his exit in De De Pyaar De 2 is a waste of time. Due to many such unnecessary sequences, Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 movie feels tiring even with a short run time. A more prominent face, instead of Meezaan, in a cameo would have been a lot more effective, even in this unnecessary subplot.How is the Music of De De Pyaar De 2?The music of De De Pyaar De 2 is poor, nowhere near the memorable album of De De Pyaar De. The songs here neither feel good to listen to individually nor sit well in the film’s narrative. 3 Shaukk, Raat Bhar, and Jhoom Sharabi can be considered the best in this poor album, even though they are average themselves.Final Take on De De Pyaar De 2As of the overall De De Pyaar De 2 review, it doesn’t stand anywhere near its prequel in whichever department you consider.
