A solid partnership with Ash Gardner and Annabel Sutherland has guided Australia to victory against England in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.

The duo went on to stitch a 180-run partnership and helped Australia to post a comfortable 6-wicket victory against England.

Ash Gardner (104*) and Annabel Sutherland (98*) knocks has made Australia to retain their top spot in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Points table.

After being invited to bat first, Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont made a decent start. Annabel Sutherland went on to dismiss Jones for 18 runs in the 9th over. With Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight at the crease, England scored 55 runs in the powerplay.

Molinuex bagged the crucial wicket of Heather Knight for 20 runs, while Alana King bagged the wicket of Nat Sciver-Brunt for 7 Runs. Meanwhile, Tammy Beaumont went on to slam fifty and went on to score 78 runs before Sutherland sent her back to the dugout.

Her dismissal severely restricted England’s run flow, and in a few overs, they lost the wickets of Emma Lamb and Sophia Dunkley for 7 and 22 runs.

However, Alice Capsey and Charlotte Dean went to stabilise the innings forging a solid partnership helping the side to breach 200 run mark.

With Molineux sent out Alice Capsey on a lbw for 38 runs, Ash Gardner went on to bag the wicket of Charlotte Dean for 26 runs.

With Linsey Smith’s run out for 3 runs, England is down to their last one wicket for 236 runs in the last over.

England went on to score 244 runs in their 50 over innings. Annabel Sutherland secured three wickets while Sophie Molineux and Ashleigh Gardner bagged two wickets each.

In the pursuit of chasing the target, Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll opened the innings while Lauren Bell opened the bowling attack.

With Lauren Bell picking the wicket of Phoebe Litchfield for 1 run, Linsey Smith picked the wickets of Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry for 6 and 13 runs.

With Beth Mooney’s dismissal for 13 runs, Australia lost 4 wickets for 68 runs. However, a solid knock from Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner went on to post a solid partnership of 180*, helping the side with a comfortable victory in the clash.

Ash Gardner went on to post an unbeaten 100 while Sutherland went on to post 98* runs guiding the side to 6 wicket victory in the 41st over.

Australia Women will play their next amtch against South Africa Women on October 25 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
