After a clinical performance in the bowling department, Australia went on to secure a mammoth 107-run victory against Pakistan in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 on October 08 at Colombo.
They went on to successfully defend the 221 total in the clash and secure a stunning victory, leaving Pakistan to suffer their third consecutive defeat in the tournament.
By this win, Australia went on to reclaim their to spot in the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 points table.
After choosing to bowl first, Pakistan went on to hunt for wickets, bagging the wickets of openers Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield within the powerplay.
With Sadia Iqbal bagging the wicket of Healy for 20 runs, Fatima Sana struck to dismiss Litchfield for 10 runs.
Nashra Sandhu went on to extend Pakistan’s dominance bagging the wickets of Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland for 5 and 1 runs respectively.
With Rameen Shamim sending back Ashleigh Gardner cheaply for 1 run, Australia stuttered to score runs and went on to lose back to back wickets.
By Gardner’s dimsissal, Australia lost 5 wickets for 60 runs. Pakistan did not stop there as Nashra Sandhu bagged the wickets of Tahlia McGarth and Rameen Shamim sent back Georgia Wareham.
After Kim Garth’s sendoff, Alana King joined Beth Mooney 106-run partnership greatly reviving the side after a collapse.
Beth Mooney went on to slam century with her persistent knock and scored 109 runs before getting dismissed in the last ball of the innings.
However, Alana King went on to remain unbeaten with 51* runs which included 3 sixes and 3 fours. With the composed knocks from Beth Mooney and King, Australia went on to post 221 runs in their innings.
In the pursuit of chasing 222 runs, Sadaf Shamas and Muneeba Ali opened the innings for Pakistan while Kim Garth opened the bowling attack.
With the dismissal of openers Shamas and Muneeba Ali for 5 and 3 runs respectively by Kim Garth and Megan Schutt, Nawaz, Natalia and Eyman got dismissed cheaply leaving Pakistan to lose 5 wickets within powerplay.

Despite the quick dismissals, Sidra Amin showed some resistance scoring 35 runs, but got dismissed by Ashleigh Garnder leaving Pakistan to a quick fall.
Contributions from Fatima Sana, Rameen Shamim and Nashra Sandhu did not make up much of a difference as the side got bowled out for 114 runs.
Kim Garth picked three wickets while Megan Schutt and Annabel Sutherland went on to pick two wickets each.
Meanwhile Alana King, Ashleigh Gardner and Georgia accounted their tally with 1 wicket each. Beth Mooney was named Player of the Match.
Australia will play their next game against India Women on October 12 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Vishakapatnam.
