The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to celebrate a landmark moment in Indian cinema as legendary Telugu actor and Padma Bhushan awardee Nandamuri Balakrishna will be felicitated for completing 50 glorious years in the film industry. The honour will be presented during the festival’s grand Opening Ceremony on November 20th in Goa.
Organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and the Government of Goa, IFFI 2025 aims to pay tribute to Balakrishna’s remarkable journey, unmatched dedication, and enduring impact on Indian cinema. Fondly known as ‘Balayya’ by millions, Nandamuri Balakrishna has acted in over 100 films in a career spanning five decades. His powerful dialogue delivery, commanding screen presence, and versatility across genres have made him one of Telugu cinema’s most iconic stars. A recipient of the Padma Bhushan and three Nandi Awards, he continues to enjoy immense popularity and respect in the industry.
Balakrishna also carries forward the rich legacy of his father, the legendary NT Rama Rao. Beyond cinema, he is known for his significant contribution to public service. As the Chairman of Basava Tarakam Cancer Hospital, he has played a key role in advancing cancer treatment and research. He has also served as the MLA of Hindupur for three consecutive terms, earning admiration for his social initiatives and commitment to public welfare.
