Bettany: “Vision” Series Is About Dads & Sons

Paul Bettany will soon reprise his Marvel Studios role of Vision in the upcoming “Vision Quest” series for the Disney+ service, and the actor was on hand at Los Angeles Comic Con this weekend to talk some more about the show.

First off, the actor was in a playful mood it seems as when asked for what he hopes for in the next phase of the MCU, his response was succinct and unsurprising: “A massive paycheck.”

Asked about the show’s themes, he says: “It’s about intergenerational trauma… fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are.”

That explains the inclusion of Ultron (James Spader) who is the ‘father’ of Vision and has added fuel to rumors that Scottish actor Ruaridh Mollica will see his Tucker character on the series become the physical vessel for Tommy Maximoff/Speed.

The series is being dubbed the third part of a trilogy after “WandaVision” and “Agatha All Along”. Mollica is currently starring with Joe Locke, who plays Billy Maximoff/Wiccan in the MCU, in the West End production of “Clarkston”.

The Vision series also stars Emily Hampshire as a human version of AI E.D.I.T.H., Orla Brady as the human version of AI F.R.I.D.A.Y., Faran Tahir as Raza, T’Nia Miller as Jocasta, and James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis in some capacity.

“Star Trek: Picard” executive producer Terry Matalas is on board as showrunner.
