Bhooth Bangla opened on a good note at the Indian box office. As per estimates, the Akshay Kumar starrer collected around Rs. 2.75 crore to Rs. 3 crore in its paid previews. The chances are more likely to fall on the higher side, even slightly over Rs 3 crore mark; actuals will be shared later.
The movie performed above expectations in its Thursday previews, signalling a favourable debut. For the record, Bhooth Bangla had sold around 40,000 tickets in the top national chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis, for its paid previews. Estimates suggest that the movie recorded a good occupancy in its premiere shows.
All eyes are now on its opening day collections. Based on the current trends, the Akshay Kumar starrer is expected to have a double-digit opening of Rs. 12 crore to Rs. 16 crore, including paid previews. Though the horror comedy will put up a promising start, its fate will be heavily dependent on its initial word-of-mouth. If the movie manages to deliver on the content front, it will record a banger opening weekend.
For the unversed, Bhooth Bangla is one of the biggest releases of Hindi cinema this year. The horror-comedy also marks the return of the much-loved combo of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after a decade. And that’s a huge driving force for the audience. Their previous film together was Khatta Meetha (2010), which was a box office flop.
Besides Akshay Kumar, the horror comedy also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Mithila Palkar, Tabu, Jissu Sengupta, and others. It will be interesting to see how the movie performs at the box office.
