New Delhi: The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced a 24-member squad for the Ranji Trophy match against Hyderabad, starting October 15th. This time, Ayush Badoni has been appointed captain, while Yash Dhull has been named vice-captain. This Delhi team represents a balance of experience and youthful enthusiasm.
Nitish Rana’s return strengthens the team
The big news for Delhi is that experienced batsman Nitish Rana has returned to the team. Rana had played for Uttar Pradesh in the recent past, but now he will once again be seen in the jersey of his home state, Delhi. His return will provide stability and experience to the middle order.
Selection Committee’s Decision and Strategy
DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma explained that the selectors chose a 24-player squad to ensure a large pool is available for each match. He said, “When we play home matches in Delhi, this will be reduced to 15 players.”
He further stated that Rishabh Pant is expected to play in the next match, which could prove to be a major boost for the team.
Key members present at the selection meeting
The team selection meeting included selectors Yashpal Singh, K. Bhaskar Pillai, Manu Nair, head coach Sarandeep Singh, CAC member Surinder Khanna, and DDCA officials Ashok Sharma (Secretary) and Amit Grover (Joint Secretary). The meeting discussed the strategy and team composition for the upcoming domestic season in detail.
