Lokesh Kangaraj’s Coolie did not click at the box office and disappointed many. Speaking candidly about the response, the director admitted that the movie faced heavy criticism after its release.

Despite the negative reviews, the director expressed gratitude to audiences for turning up in large numbers, largely due to the unmatched stardom of Rajinikanth.
