Dhurandhar: The Revenge collected GBP 5.2K on its 5th Tuesday in the United Kingdom, which pushed its total box office gross in the country to GBP 4.388 million. With that, the Ranveer Singh starrer has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film of all time in the country, surpassing Pathaan.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge had already established itself as the top-grossing Indian film in Canada and Australia. In the United States, it ranks second behind Baahubali: The Conclusion, while among Hindi films, it holds the top spot there as well. Effectively, the film is now the #1 Bollywood film across all major international markets, except the UAE-GCC, where it was not released.
In the United States, Canada and Australia, even the first Dhurandhar was the record grosser, but it fell short in the United Kingdom, finishing fourth behind Pathaan, Saiyaara, and Jawan. This time as well, the record has come towards the tail end of its run, whereas in the other three, it was done early in the second week.
Part of the reason is that Pathaan in the UK was a record holder, at a higher magnitude than it was in the other markets. The other reason was that in the UK, the Pakistani diaspora forms a significant portion of the audience for Hindi films, and given the patriotic themes of these films, it would ordinarily see limited patronage from them. However, being set in Pakistan and based on the Pakistani underworld had generated considerable curiosity, which probably worked for it at some level. Although the sequel was a bit more front-footed on patriotism, which probably limited that help.
Regardless, with the sequel, the franchise has now conquered this one remaining territory, completing a clean sweep across major markets.
