Dolly Parton’s sister has asked fans to pray for the country music icon, following the singer’s decision to postpone her Las Vegas residency due to health concerns. Freida Parton shared an update on Facebook on Tuesday, October 7, saying she spent the previous night praying for her sister. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” she wrote. Freida added a note of reassurance, writing: “She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!” The 79-year-old singer announced on September 28 that she would be postponing her Las Vegas residency by nearly a year to focus on her health. “As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000 check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” she wrote. Parton explained that the decision was necessary to ensure she could deliver the quality of performance her fans expect. “I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You see good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you,” she said. She reassured fans that she is not retiring, adding: “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.” The residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas was originally scheduled to begin in December. It will now launch in September 2026. Parton’s health update comes after a difficult year for the singer, who lost her husband of 58 years, Carl Dean, in March at the age of 82.
