Drone crash inside Telangana Secretariat triggers security concern in no-fly zone

Hyderabad: A drone crashed near the North Portico of Telangana Secretariat on Wednesday evening, sparking a major security concern in the `no-fly zone’.
According to Saifabad Police, the incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. when a drone crashed inside the Secretariat premises near North Portico. Escort duty personnel immediately secured the device and handed it over to the Telangana State Special Police Force (TGSPF) personnel on duty.
After the incident, two TGSPF teams were deployed to trace the drone’s operator. The teams searched the surrounding areas of the Secretariat but could not locate anyone responsible for flying the device.
The Telangana Secretariat, being a high-security and sensitive zone, prohibits any aerial or remotely operated flying activities, including drones, within its limits.
Murthy, Sub-Inspector and Duty Officer of the TGSPF at the Secretariat, lodged a formal complaint at Saifabad Police Station seeking legal action against the unidentified individuals who operated the drone.
The drone has been handed over to the police for forensic and technical examination.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to identify the operator and determine the purpose behind the drone’s flight in the restricted area.
