The investigative thriller Mrithyunjay, starring Sree Vishnu, is receiving a strong response from audiences after its theatrical release on March 6. Directed by Hussain Sha Kiran, the film is produced by Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati under the banners of Light Box Media and Picture Perfect Entertainment. Following the positive reception from audiences and critics, the film’s team organised a “Thrilling Blockbuster Success Meet” on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Sree Vishnu said the film was the result of a long-planned collaboration between him, producer Sandeep Gunnam, and Pavan. He said Sandeep introduced him to director Hussain Sha Kiran while they were looking to make a film that would rely purely on strong content and storytelling.
Sree Vishnu said the team worked with great dedication during the production and thanked Ramya for taking care of the entire unit during the shoot. He also appreciated the performances of the cast, including Reba Monica John, Sudarshan, Raccha Ravi, Ayyappa Sharma, and Baby Ooha, stating that each of them delivered impressive performances that added depth to the film.
The actor said audiences are finding the film fresh and engaging, especially because of its gripping story and unexpected twists written by director Hussain Sha Kiran. He also praised cinematographer Sagar for presenting the actors in a new light on screen.
Sree Vishnu gave special credit to music director Kaala Bhairava, saying the background score significantly elevated the film. “I was surprised by the intensity of the score. Because of Kaala Bhairava, the level of the film went higher. He is the real hero of this film. Everyone who has watched it is praising it highly,” Sree Vishnu said.
Director Hussain Sha Kiran said the team promoted the film without relying on songs or comedy tracks, focusing entirely on the strength of the story. He said the positive reviews and reactions on social media after the release brought great happiness to the team.
He thanked the audience for supporting the film and expressed gratitude to producers Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati for their constant encouragement. The director also praised the performances of Raccha Ravi, Sudarshan, and Baby Ooha, and appreciated Kaala Bhairava for enhancing the film through his background score. Hussain Sha Kiran also acknowledged the work of his sister Manisha, who received appreciation for the film’s set design.
Producer Sandeep Gunnam said the film has received tremendous support from the media and audiences from the first day of its release. He said the media reviews and audience word-of-mouth matched perfectly, which helped the film gain strong momentum.
According to him, the team had decided early on to focus purely on storytelling rather than adding routine commercial elements. He praised cinematographer Sagar for his visuals and Manisha for creating the film’s world through production design. Gunnam described Sree Vishnu as a passionate actor who deeply values stories and cinema, adding that the film’s script took nearly two years to be finalised.
Music director Kaala Bhairava said the appreciation for the film’s background score was the result of teamwork. He credited his team members Harsha Vardhan, Siddharth, Ebenezer Paul, and Vishal Bharadwaj for their contributions, with Harsha Vardhan playing a major role in the music production.
Kaala Bhairava also praised Sree Vishnu’s performance and said working with director Hussain Sha Kiran felt like working with family. He added that the entire team worked with dedication and requested audiences to continue supporting the film in theatres.
With strong word-of-mouth and positive audience feedback, Mrithyunjay is now emerging as one of the most talked-about investigative thrillers in recent Telugu cinema.
