In a major crackdown against counterfeit consumer products, Delhi Police has busted a fake toothpaste manufacturing unit that was allegedly producing and packaging duplicate “Sensodyne” toothpaste. The operation has raised serious concerns over the sale of fake daily-use products in the market, especially those linked to personal health and hygiene.
During the raid, police reportedly seized a large quantity of counterfeit material from the illegal factory. The recovered items include 1,800 filled toothpaste tubes, 10,000 empty tubes, 1,200 packed tubes, and around 130 kilograms of toothpaste paste. The scale of the seizure suggests that the operation was being run in an organized manner and may have been supplying fake products to local markets.
According to initial reports, the factory was allegedly involved in manufacturing duplicate toothpaste under the well-known Sensodyne brand name, misleading consumers by packaging the counterfeit product in a way that closely resembled the original. Such fake products not only amount to brand fraud but can also pose a serious health risk to users if the ingredients used are unsafe or unregulated.
Police have arrested the factory owner, identified as Hariom Mishra, in connection with the case. Authorities are now expected to investigate how long the illegal unit had been operating, where the fake products were being distributed, and whether a larger supply network is involved.
The incident has once again highlighted the growing threat of counterfeit FMCG and healthcare-related products entering the market. Consumers are being advised to stay alert while purchasing branded products and to buy only from trusted stores and verified sellers.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
