Janganon: Tension prevailed at the Agricultural Market Yard in Jangaon as farmers staged a protest demanding procurement of paddy at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 2,369 per quintal for the common variety. Complaining about the lack of remunerative price for their produce, farmers stopped the paddy sales.
The protesting farmers stated that paddy procurement prices had fallen sharply to Rs 1,400 per quintal, pointing out that during the BRS regime, the price stood at around Rs 2,100 per quintal. They questioned how farmers would survive and warned of launching a State-wide agitation if procurement continued below MSP.
Farmers lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, stating that the Congress government would pay politically for neglecting them. “In just three years, KCR government will come to power in the State. We will ensure that the Congress does not return to power for the next 30 years,” they declared.
