The Pakistan captain, Fatima Sana, went on to pick 4 wickets each to restrict England to 133 runs during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 clash on October 15 at Colombo.
Pakistan will be needing 113 in 31 overs to secure the first win of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 at R. Premadasa Stadium.
After being invited to bat first, England openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont fell cheaply to Fatima Sana and Diana Baig.
Beaumont was the first to lose her wicket for 4 runs, while Amy Jones added only 8 runs before her dismissal.
Fatima Sana did not stop there as she picked the wickets of Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight for 4 and 18 runs to further taunt England.
Sadia Iqbal done her part bagging the wickets of Emma Lamb and Sophie Dunkley for 4 and 11 runs respectively. England lost 6 wickets for 57 runs and Pakistan’s onslaught did not stop there, as Rameen Shamim bagged the wicket of Alice Capsey on a lbw.
With Charlotte Dean and Em Arlott at crease, England scored 79 runs before the rain interrupted the game.
After the rain stopped, the umpires confirmed it will be a 31 over match. Dean and Arlott went on to add up 51 runs to the board.
Sana went on to dismiss Charlotte Dean for 33 runs, while EM Arlott got dismissed for 18 on a run out. By the end of 31 overs, England Women went on to score 133 runs for 9 wickets.
Fatima Sana completed four wickets while Sadia Iqbal bagged two wickets. Rameen Shamim and Diana Baig bagged one wicket each.

Speaking at the toss, Fatima Sana said, “We will bowl first. The pitch looks good and might be helpful for the spinners. It seems to be a spinning track. We have two changes. We need to improve on our batting and bat longer. Have some partnerships. We need to finish well with the ball.”
Meanwhile, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt said, “We wanted to bowl as well. Two changes. In a tournament like this, you want your squad members to be ready. Try and start from the beginning and assess the conditions. Hopefully, will come good again.”
