In a recent interview, Arjun said that despite working across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada film industries, he did not have close friends in the film world, except for Jagapathi Babu, whom he described as his only true friend in the industry. At that time, Arjun was just 29 years old and was also trying to establish himself as a director. With mounting losses and no financial backing left, he admitted that he was mentally prepared to return to Bengaluru if Sevagan had completely collapsed, as he had run out of money and opportunities.
Fate, however, took a different turn after this low phase. Following the success of Gentleman, Arjun managed to get back on track, slowly rebuilding his career and credibility in the industry. Looking back, he said that he always wanted to explore different genres and challenge himself with varied roles, but circumstances and market trends pushed him largely towards action films. According to him, different kinds of scripts did not come his way as expected, which limited his chances to experiment beyond action-oriented roles, even though he was keen to do more diverse cinema.
Arjun’s candid reflections highlight the unpredictable nature of the film industry, where talent and hard work do not always guarantee immediate success.
