Hyderabad, September 28, 2024: The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HYDRAA) commissioner, AV Ranganath, has vehemently denied any involvement in the tragic suicide of a woman in Kukatpally.
No Notices Issued: Ranganath clarified that no notices were issued to the woman or her family prior to the incident. He attributed the woman’s extreme step to apprehensions expressed by her daughters regarding potential demolitions in the area.
Daughter’s Concerns: The woman’s daughters, who reside near Kukatpally lake, had expressed concerns about the safety of their homes, given their proximity to the FTL (Financial Technology Layout). These concerns, coupled with the woman’s sensitivity, reportedly led to the tragic event.
HYDRAA’s Role: Ranganath emphasized that HYDRAA is not responsible for the woman’s suicide and urged the media, particularly social media, to refrain from spreading misinformation about the agency. He clarified that HYDRAA has not conducted any surveys for demolitions along the Musi river and dismissed rumors of large-scale demolitions planned in the area.
Government Guidelines: Ranganath reiterated the government’s clear instructions to avoid displacing poor and lower-middle-class individuals during demolition drives. He assured the public that HYDRAA is committed to adhering to these guidelines.
