New Delhi: There has been several changes in Team India’s latest ICC T20I rankings after the five-match home series against South Africa. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav dropped out of the top ten in the batter rankings due to his poor form continued against the Proteas.
The right-hander scored only 34 runs across four matches, with an average of 8.50 and a strike rate of 103.03. This dip in form saw him slip three places to 13th in the latest standings.
Tilak Varma continued his rise in T20I batter rankings
However, Suryakumar’s Mumbai Indians teammate Tilak Varma continued his rise in the T20I batter rankings. The left-hander had an impressive series against South Africa, piling up 187 runs at an average of over 62 and a strike rate of 131.69. His impressive performances helped him climb one place to third in the latest rankings.
Star opener Abhishek Sharma maintained his position at the top of the rankings after yet another consistent series against South Africa, crossing the 100-run mark at an impressive strike rate of 174.57.
Varun Chakaravarthy held on to the number one spot
Meanwhile, in the T20I bowler rankings, India’s Varun Chakaravarthy held on to the number one spot following a stellar series against the Proteas. He picked 10 wickets, averaging 11.25 while keeping his economy rate below 7.50.
Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the biggest gainer, jumping 10 places to 18th in the T20I bowler rankings. Bumrah picked four wickets in three matches he played against South Africa, maintaining an average below 20 and an economy rate of 7.18.
Meanwhile, there were minor changes among Indian all-rounders in the latest T20I rankings. Hardik Pandya held on to fourth place, while Axar Patel slipped one position to 10th.
The left-arm spin all-rounder featured in just two matches of the series against South Africa before being sidelined by injury. He scored runs at an average of 22 with a strike rate below 105, and also picked three wickets at an average of 11.33 while conceding at an economy rate of 6.80.
Batting all-rounder Shivam Dube slipped one place to 17th in the rankings following a subdued series against South Africa, where he scored 32 runs and took two wickets across four matches. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma moved up one spot to 18th despite bowling just one over and conceding 13 runs in the series, along with scoring 103 runs at an average of 25.75.
