The uncapped wicket-keeper batter Mahidul Islam Ankon has been included in the Bangladesh squad for the first two T20Is against Ireland. Meanwhile, all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has also returned to the team.
Ankon, who made his test debut in South Africa in 2024, made his ODI debut during the West Indies tour in 2025, where he scored 46, 17 and 6 in the series.
Saifuddin returns to the shortest format after the series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, where Bangladesh secured a 3-0 clean sweep.
On the other hand, Taskin Ahmed and Shamim Hossain were excluded due to commitments in the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2025, according to Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain.

The BCB has named the squad for the opening two matches of the three-match T20I series, set to be played in Chattogram on 27 & 29 November and 2 December.

âTaskin has an NOC, so he is not available to us currently,â Hossain said. âWe know that he will play for Bangladesh whenever we ask him to, but we are well aware of the plans.â
He added that Shamim Hossain was omitted to try out new options at the top of the order. âWe havenât considered Shamim Hossain for the first two T20Is. We have picked Mahidul Islam so that we can try someone in the top four.â
The Tigers secured a 2-0 clean sweep in the test series in Ireland tour of Bangladesh 2025 and will be aiming to replicate the success in the T20I format.
The three-match series will be played in Chattogram on November 27, 29 and December 02, as Bangladesh continues to fine-tune their T20I setup ahead of a busy 2025 calendar.
