Mowgli Review: An outdated, boring, and forced romantic drama

It has been five long years since Sandeep Raj’s Colour Photo hit the screens. After a long gap, he is back with Mowgli featuring Roshan Kanakala and Bandi Saro Kumar as the main lead. The film was released today and let’s see if the film lives up to the hype created.
Story
After losing his parents at a young age, Mowgli grows up alone in a forest region and dreams of becoming a police officer. During this time, a film crew comes there for shooting and to make money, Mowgli joins the team as a dupe and falls in love with Jasmine(Sakshi) a mute girl. After a point even she okays his love and when getting to a crazy police office, Christopher Nolan sets eyes on Jasmine. To escape him, the couple run into the forest. The rest of the story is as to how the couple survive the wrath of the deady office.
What about on-screen performances?
When compared to his debut film, Roshan Kanakala is quite better in Mowgli. He gets a part where he plays his age and allows himself to unleash all his emotions nicely.
In Mowgli, he gets all the chances to showcase emotions, comedy, and action parts and Roshan does quite well in the departments with a lot of ease.
Sakshi Mhadolkar is effective as the heroine and gets to do a lot of emotional scenes and she is good. But sadly, she did not get much of a chance in the film to showcase her talent.
If there is one aspect that makes things interesting in Mowgli it is Bandi Saroj Kumar. The way he has pulled off the negative role has surprised one and all.
One can say that Telugu cinema has found a terrific actor and Saroj will go a long way in his career. The way he showcased villainism in the film is very good.
Viva Harsha was also good in his role and his acting in the last few scenes was quite good. The rest of the cast were just about okay.
What about off screen talents?
For a love story to click, there should be quite good music but sadly, that is not the case in Mowgli as both the music and BGM sucks big time.
The production values of the film are quite good as the camerawork and visuals look quite good in the film and have been taken care of nicely.
The intensity, emotional pull, and dramatic impact that one expects are largely missing. As a viewer, it is difficult to feel connected to what is unfolding on screen.
A major reason for this is the overstretched treatment and heavy-handed presentation. Many scenes go on longer than needed, and even within those moments, the writing fails.
Although a few brief portions show good rhythm and timing from the actors, they are not enough to balance the uneven storytelling in the film.
The predictable nature of the content further weakens engagement, making the experience tiring until a minor twist before the interval offers slight relief.
The second half goes for a toss as Sandeep Raj tries all tricks to save the film but that does not happen one bit as Mowgli suffers from routineness to another level.
Colour Photo has an endearing story, amazing chemistry between the lead pair and great performances. But in Mowgli, all that is missing big time and bores the audience.
What’s Good?

Bandi Saroj Kumar performance
A few intense scenes

What’s Bad?

Routine Story
Bad editing
Lack of gripping drama
Forced emotions

Verdict:
Overall, Mowgli is a boring and outdated romantic drama that has nothing going its way. We have seen such stories many times in Telugu cinema and the same is showcased by Sandeep Raj and his team. The film fails to connect on any level and end as a massive disappointment
