Netflix Backs Aegan’s ‘Haiku’ as Shooting Begins Today

Netflix has once again reaffirmed its faith in strong, content-driven cinema by acquiring the digital streaming rights of the upcoming Tamil film Haiku, even before the film completes shooting. In a rare and confident move, the global OTT giant has come on board at the production stage itself, underlining the buzz surrounding the project.
The film officially went on floors today, February 1, 2026, with a traditional pooja and first clap ceremony held at Eddiki. Renowned filmmaker Ram, known for critically acclaimed films like Peranbu and Taramani, gave the inaugural clap and wished the team success, adding prestige to the launch.
Haiku is directed by Yuvaraj Chinnasamy and produced by Vision Cinema House, headed by Dr. D. Arulanandhu and Mathewo Arulanandhu. The film also features additional screenplay by Hari Haran Ram, who earlier won praise for directing Joe.
The movie stars Aegan, best known for Joe and Kozhi Pannai ChellaDurai, in the lead role. He is joined by Femina George, popular for Minnal Murali and Sesham Mike-il Fathima, and Sridevi Apalla, who was recently seen in Court.
The technical team brings together strong talent, with cinematography by Priyesh GuruSwamy, editing by Sakthi Pranesh, and music composed by Vijai Bulganin, known for his work in Court and Baby.
With Netflix securing streaming rights at an early stage, Haiku has already generated strong industry buzz. The combination of a proven creative team, promising cast, and solid backing from a global platform positions the film as one of the most anticipated Tamil releases in the coming months. Further updates on the film’s progress and release date are expected soon.
