Not just Asia Cup 2025 Trophy, BCCI planning removal of ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi after apology, says reports

New Delhi: The ongoing dispute between India and Pakistan following the 2025 Asia Cup has now reached the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). According to media reports, the BCCI is preparing to remove Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi from his posts. Naqvi has been accused of violating protocol and neglecting his responsibilities.
Trophy Controversy Escalates Tensions
India won the title after the final played in Dubai on September 28, but Team India did not receive the trophy. The trophy is currently in the possession of PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. India refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan’s Home Minister, citing the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent escalation of tensions between the two countries.
India Plans to Complain to the UAE
According to reports, India is preparing to file a formal complaint with the UAE administration regarding the entire trophy controversy. The Indian government wants an investigation into Naqvi’s actions. It is alleged that he politicised cricket administration and violated the limits of impartiality.
Naqvi’s Apology and Condition
Mohsin Naqvi apologized to the BCCI at the ACC meeting held on September 30, but the matter did not end there. Naqvi also stated that if India wanted the trophy, captain Suryakumar Yadav would have to come and collect it from the ACC office in Dubai. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia rejected this condition and stated that India would not accept the trophy under such circumstances. He termed it extremely unfortunate and against the spirit of the game.
