It was an action packed day of cricketing action in the Ranji Trophy 2025/26. India’s premier red ball competition began rolling on Wednesday and Day 3 witnessed some fine performances overall. Rajat Patidar slammed a double century, Ayush Badoni picked up five wickets while Tamil Nadu suffered a humiliating collapse in a moving day across the country.

Rajat Patidar’s dream run
It has been a dream year for Rajat Patidar. He led RCB to their maiden IPL trophy and then scored centuries in the Irani Trophy and for India A against Australia A. Now full-time captain of Madhya Pradesh, Patidar slammed a stunning double century in his first match. Facing a Punjab attack, the MP skipper smashed 205 in 360 deliveries, remaining unbeaten at Stumps on Day 3. With the IND vs SA tests next month, the middle order could find himself back in the mix.
Tilak Varma dismissed for a duck, Ayush Badoni scalps 5-fer
On a flat wicket in Hyderabad, Tilak Varma missed an opportunity to cash in. The left-hander fell for a two ball duck after his side conceded a mammoth 529 to Delhi. In response, Tanmay Agarwal scored a century and got Hyderabad off to a great start, but Varma could not carry it forward.
Badoni meanwhile made the most of the flat pitch. While he managed a half-century in the first innings, it was with the ball that the Delhi skipper made heads turn. The LSG star picked up a five-wicket haul to push Hyderabad to 400/7, all but securing a first innings lead for his side.
