Actor-filmmaker Sasikumar has officially joined forces with director Dharani Rasendran, whose debut historical war drama ‘Yaathisai’ was critically acclaimed for its raw, stylized depiction of 7th-century South Indian history.
The collaboration, announced on Sasikumar’s birthday, is an ambitious, yet-to-be-titled project set against the British colonial era.
Sasikumar is set to portray an Indian National Army (INA) officer, a role Dharani Rasendran expressed could only be done justice by the actor’s gravitas. The director stated the story will be an emotionally compelling drama featuring complex action sequences.
The team has already completed 70% of the filming. The ensemble cast includes prominent names like Samuthirakani, Bhavani Sre, Seyon, Shivada, and Kishore.
‘Yaathisai’ was noted for its use of refined Sanga Tamil dialogue and inventive action choreography, suggesting the new project will also prioritize historical authenticity and unique visual storytelling.
